My Nutmeg Button Club holiday auction haul and the two issues of Art in Buttons are a gift from my good friends in button collecting. I also picked up three new button books and a card of celluloids, plus I hit the local antique mall afterwards and got some AWESOME shirt studs but I will share that haul tomorrow. 😉 #buttonlove#blithebutton#antiquebuttons#vintagebuttons
Yowza! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas with this vintage 1950's coat button for my #buttontintuesday post. This big beauty measures over an inch across! Can you imagine a row of these babies down an old wool coat? Lovely! I purchased it from an E Bay seller to use as a hat embellishment, but it's so BIG and hats look so ridiculous on me that it sits in my button tin. 🎄 #button#buttonlove#vintagebuttons#antiquebuttons
One of the joys of offering our new limited edition pieces online is that we can share with you details about each particular button! We were thrilled to find an old store stock card of these gorgeous jet glass buttons with gold luster, dating from the 1880s or '90s. Jet glass was the most popular Victorian button, a popularity that began in 1861, with the death of Queen Victoria’s beloved husband, Prince Albert, after which the Queen wore black mourning clothes (and buttons) until her death in 1901. As went the Queen’s fashions, so went the world’s!
We can make only 24 of these lovely necklaces; when they're gone, they're gone! Link to shop in bio.
Today I got the greatest surprise. My mom took me to a button dealer and expert, known as The Button Lady. Her collection of buttons (mostly) for sale was just incredible. She legit had more than 10,000 buttons. Scroll through for so many amazing buttons. #vintagebuttons#antiquebuttons#fashionhistory
