This week I'm starting my seed planting for next fall and winter exhibitions. I'm a month late this year due to the whirlwind of February engagements but that is life , you plan and then things happen. 🌸
This past fall, I managed to also press some flowers for some new experiments and concepts I'm exploring. It can be frustrating when the projects don't pan out , and I'm here wrestling with it trying to refine concepts and further research.
Well that is the life of the creatives ; it's not like you can turn on the creativity faucet and all makes sense in an instant. I shall keep the thinking and playing . It's what gives me joy and a sense of purpose. 🌷
Have a wonderful family day weekend. Off to Lake Louise for a couple of days with the monkeys 🐒🐒 to reconnect and play. 📸Anastasia Kircheva Photography

Alberta's unofficial mascot... The grain elevator. My favorite is the old gritty abandoned ones.

Spending Family Day/Louis Riel Day long weekend in Calgary with my brother in-law and his wife. Having fun at the Telus Sparks Science Museum. The kids’ excitement and pure happiness of seeing science at work was amazing.
Essence of a Selfie, 2018, acrylic on canvas.
I have been thinking about this concept for a while. The image that occurs when one tries to take a selfie, but shifts the camera a second too soon. The final picture may be lovely to look at, but it isn’t one that someone would post on social media with wobbly edges that indicate movement. In art, I feel as though there is always a struggle to portray something that has movement or doesn’t have clarity or focus. This was a fun piece to paint “the failed selfie.” #yyc#calgary#art#painting#acrylic#portrait#calgaryarts#yycart
