Day 7/21 Painting Bravely Challenge 💞 Here’s what I thought while I painted “Shine” onto a 4x5 canvas today...
Just don’t listen to the negative stuff. Just shine. Believe in yourself. Don’t give up. Keep growing, keep learning. Keep believing that the good will conquer the evil. Keep your heart soft and teachable.
These are all things I tell myself regularly. I believe them. I try to share them with others. I try to give and shine my light in a way that brings joy to others. In a way that might help some see how beautiful and wonderful they are.
I want for you, dear reader, to know you are not alone. That you matter. That you are of value. You are precious. ‘You are not the things that happened to you or the bad decisions you’ve made.’ You have the choice to lift your head up and choose differently this time. You have the choice to become love instead of letting yourself harden in bitterness.
Shine your light, even if you can only start with one thread, one sliver of light. I dare you to do it! You will never regret finding your light and letting it shine. After all it’s dark all around the sun where it resides and look at that giant shine... Reading Donne, setting Thanksgiving tables, and spending hours working with and enjoying these flowers. 🍂 Fall melancholy really works on me and for me. Everything in nature, in this season, is full of decay and a sense of things fleeting; it is almost winter and it is so sad, in a sense, and also unutterably beautiful. Because there is, in the midst of everything, this human effort to sit and be deliberately grateful, to have communion, Thanksgiving. Winter may be closing in, metaphorically or actually, but still we will give thanks. It’s a touching and powerful act. 🕯✨🕊 Fall tends to remind me of things lost or passed. I become more and more aware that my springy, hopeful, youthful vitality has.... sobered. It’s real, it’s sad, there’s no easy resolution. No easy conclusion or pretty statement to dismiss it with. But I’m also deeply aware that this season has the power to bring us into communion and soul-sharing, which makes us whole. We’ve all lost something to time and we’ve all been broken and suffer lack. But that is what makes us needful of God and one another, and what unites us to Him. “Were her first years the golden age? That’s true, / But now she’s gold oft tried and ever new.” -Donne, “Elegy IX: The Autumnal”
Tear downs happen occasionally in our neighborhood. Some are understandable while others are questionable especially when the new build is equally questionable. But this one is a good one with it's wood siding and board and batten. This style is quite popular for the current decade and I'm not mad about it. I know it's another white house but it has a mint colored door 😍. #myhousecrushmonday a day late.
Elliot. My heart has been aching for you. You love learning, but have such trouble grasping what you reach for. You see your differences more and often choose silence instead of sound. (Never with family, but with others) You are happy still, but your boundaries are designed to keep you safe from hurt, I think. You have such a great, accepting outlook of others: I just want you to feel the same for yourself. You are a gem.

Okay guys, get your tissues ready because this ones about to get real. Getting some reflection time today and on the drive up the mountain yesterday. I was/am overwhelmed with thankfulness and gratitude to God for providing me with the most amazing wife in the universe.
Listening to some of our favorite songs, holding hands, exploring the town last night, are just small parts of why I fall for this girl more every day.
A few years ago, back when I had my eyes on her (before we were dating)I thought that if I could just be with her then I would be happy. I have since realized to be careful what I ask for because God not only did that, but he opened for me an adventure of love. This girl takes me to the highest of highs and is with me in the lowest of lows. There is no one on this earth that I simply could not live without besides her. She is the princess of my own fairy tale, and I strive for more opportunities to be her knight in shining armor.
Today Im sitting here just reflecting on the fact that I am incredibly lucky to have her in my life and I pray that we would have many more years serving and blessing others together. You’re my best friend Stefanie, I love you!
1 John 4:8-11
“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” What things allow you to get into a spirit of gratitude? How has someone else taught you to have a spirit of thankfulness? We love to hear from you.
