There are hundreds of volcanoes 🌋 on Iceland, so many that in the last 500 years, Iceland alone has been responsible for 30 percent of the world’s lava flow. Pair this with glaciers that also populate the landscape, and you have the perfect storm of natural occurrences that make aerial photographs like this one possible. The color in this photo comes from dissolved minerals in the water that, for whatever reason, don’t mix as brooks flow into rivers and rivers flow into the sea.
