Happy New Year from Dutch and the gang. We’re sprucing up the bunkers this winter for a spring 2018 distillery and tasting room opening at the hideout in Pine Plains. Keep your eyes peeled for announcements and as always, Drink with Conviction.
Dutch Mule Cocktail - Dutch Schultz is murdered and dies on October 24, 1935. Schultz was a mobster in the 1920s and 30s, making his fortune in the numbers racket and bootlegging business. In 1932, he financed a clandestine underground distillery in Pine Plains, NY producing thousands of gallons of moonshine. Federal agents raided the site that same year and destroyed the operation. Schultz died in a shootout by fellow mobsters in response to his attempt to murder US Attorney Thomas Dewey. Dewey had set his sights on convicting Schultz on tax evasion. Visit Dutch's Spirits to see the hidden passages and bootlegging operations. Enjoy a large selection of spirits in their tasting room too! As they say, “drink with conviction.” Recipe: 1 ½ oz moonshine and 3 ½ oz ginger beer or ginger ale. Build in a pint glass full of ice. Garnish with a lime wedge. #dutchsspirits#moonshine#vintage#bootlegger#gingerbeer#vodka#hudsonvalley
