all this fancy in NYC has me thinking about one of our fanciest back at home... the master bedroom at our #ScorpioPlaceProject was a challenge for many reasons —> 14 foot ceilings, a 30 foot wall and existing furniture, but we were able to make it work by keeping the scale in mind first, followed by lots of texture, layers and balanced color! If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?
"The tallest tree in the forest was once just a little nut that held its ground." -Anon. 🌳 🌳 🌳🌲🌲🌲🌴🌴🌴
In the last few weeks I have turned down a heck of a lot of work, all on principle. Either the pay was a pittance or it was blog work that is not a good fit with my niche (i.e. not fitting with my usual subject areas). This has happened so many times now that I am struggling to HOLD MY NERVE. Gimme strength! I'm just praying that it will pay off 🙏
Any wise words for me?
Great showcase by @annemarieiam at the Apple Store today! Her vocals were so good and she is such a bubbly and fun individual! I adore her!! ❤️❤️
Such great stage presence - her laughter and cheerful nature is so infectious and heartwarming that you just want to hug her or giggle along with her!
I love her singing so much and it was great to finally hear Rockabye live! Friends which comes out tomorrow was so good too and such a treat to hear for the very first time!
And last but certainly not least, her answers to the mini Q&A is so honest and wonderful, it almost feels as if you are listening to your friend talk instead of an artist - such an inspiration.
Thanks so much for bringing her in @warnermusicsg! xx
Review/write-up of the gig come!
“With energy, laughter and vocals lighting up the room, there is certainly so much to love about 26-year old Anne-Marie Nicholson who was in Singapore recently for a promotional tour.
Performing to a full house at a free showcase at the Apple Store on Orchard Road, this gorgeous young lady sung four songs, igniting the atmosphere with her bubbly and heart-warming nature.
From Heavy to Alarm, Ciao Adios to Rockabye, the tones and colours in her voice were warm and beautiful, almost like dark ripe summer berries or a lovely dessert wine with just that kick of zest in it.
Ciao Adios was a treat and I adore this version as much as her version with Ed Sheeran.
But what caught my aural senses that evening was perhaps her new single with Marshmello entitled FRIENDS. Guitar chords played by Beanie her guitarist, who also is the drummer for Rudimental were so good and in its entirety, the song was filled with interesting vibes and tones that gave it a cheeky, clever and catchy feel.
Atmospherically, it really felt like one of those songs you cannot help but groove or sway along to if you were to hear it in say, a music studio.”

Had great fun at the #AnneMarieandFriends Meet and Greet Kueh-Kueh session with the lovely, funny and gorgeous @annemarieiam! Thank you lovely! Today was absolutely smashing! Loved how you loved the cakes so much - especially the Ondeh-Ondeh and the Pulut Inti. Thanks so much @warnermusicsg! xx And also for the autographed polaroid! 😍 Best M&G that I have ever attended so far!!
The little video (taken by WMS) shows me putting my ALO game on with such “skilled” comprehension and product knowledge of all the kueh-kueh (cakes)... Even explained what each cake/biccie was made of/contain... 😆
Cakes/biccies in question: Pulut inti, kueh dadar, ondeh-ondeh, kueh bangkit and kueh suji.
And yes, during the photo-taking, I couldn’t help myself but asked her what it was like to tour with @teddysphotos for his Divide Tour! 😏 Before telling her that I’d be going to his gigs in Melbourne and London this year! 😆

It was an evening that was inundated with beautiful nostalgia and ripples of love. Like a stone that skips across the water, the hearts of two hundred fans skipped a beat that Sunday night at the @esplanadesingapore Annexe Studio as they rode the the ripples and osmosis of sound waves that cascaded around the studio. What an intimate gig indeed!
Of the songs sang that evening, my two favourite ones were Unbreakable and Beautiful in White, both of which are featured on his Love Always album.
There was an iridescent sadness and beauty to Unbreakable and a shining light to Filan’s vocals that melded and cascaded through the studio like strings of an orchestra playing in a grand hall. The forte of his voice was beautiful and albeit the rather loud speakers that almost drowned him out for the first part of the chorus, the colours and tones in that piece was just perfection.
Beautiful in White which lyrics sound like a beautiful wedding vow written on the tapestry of a music score, was sung with such heartfelt emotion, one could almost feel the radiance of love that exuded from him.
Perhaps he was thinking of his wife and daughter when he sang it…
Thank you @shanefilanofficial for a riveting and very special performance!

A fantastic #meetandgreetthenessie with @imaginedragons to start 2018!
What an awesome band! So, so friendly! Was especially chuffed when the artist management (not sure if it was LiveNation or the band’s management themselves) suddenly changed the rules and allowed me and few others in the queue to have an individual photo with them! We were at the right part of the queue at the right time! It was perhaps a small gesture but it really means a lot to me to get an individual photo! So, thank you!!
I reciprocated by spending less than a minute with the band (just handshakes and not hugs since hugs would take 10-15 seconds longer per person. Also cause ALO ‘artist liaison’ brain told me to hurry...) and wished them luck for their gig! Lovely, lovely guys!
Also thanks again to @danielplatzman for throwing that guitar pick to me. I don’t know if it was because you recognised me from the M&G but really... Thank you so much! Clutching that pick in my hand (so it wouldn’t fall as I was wearing a dress, ergo no pockets!) while listening to Dream was so surreal...
Special thanks to @universalmusg and @livenationsg for this M&G! xx

There was something very beautiful, beyond its stunning visuals, enrapturing energy and riveting music, about Imagine Dragons’ gig @sgsportshub on Sunday evening.
Beneath the concert, at the very core of it, was its heart - and it was just beautiful.
From I Don’t Know Why to Radioactive, the arena reverberated with sound waves of magic and an energy that was never unyielding.
Not for a moment.
Not from the band.
And not from their fans.
Visually stunning from the get-go, Reynolds’ voice echoed radiantly as he belted into the first verse of I Don’t Know Why, his vocals and the backdrop of lighting, a perfect meld and anticipation of what was to come that night.
Perhaps what was truly spellbinding that evening were the six songs sung by the band when they were at stage B. Acoustically beautiful with the main focus just on the instruments and vocals, the band took to this secondary stage and serenaded us with Bleeding Out, Amsterdam, Warriors, The Fall, Polaroid, and Dream.
Each song showed the prowess of Reynolds’ vocals as well as the versatility of the other members. For instance, in Dream, which was also perhaps my favourite piece of the evening, “orchestral strings” took to the stage in resplendent form.
As the strings melded, I melted in them.
Undulating colours like iridescent stars that engulfed my heart. Vocals and tones that exude incandescence. Each tone like waves of the sunset.
The plectrum that I held in my hand, thrown to me just minutes before by Platzman, merely accentuated this special moment…
It was surreal…
With a lighting design and pyrotechnics that was aesthetically glorious as it was precise, especially to songs like Believer and Radioactive, and music that juxtaposed the elements of alternative rock and a little infusion of “classical”, Imagine Dragons’ gig was indeed a stonking one!

Thanks so much for the guitar pick @danielplatzman! ❤️❤️ Even though my catching pretty much sucks, haha! Cause once again, I missed it and the beautiful plectrum fell behind the barrier. 😆 Thankfully, the lovely security chap helped pick it up for me... ❤️❤️ He even removed his gloves to do this as it was difficult picking it off the floor - bless him!
@imaginedragons’ gig @sgsportshub on Sunday evening was aces!! An evolution of the word stonking - a visual and aural treat!! Dream was so beautiful - the colours and tones in the strings that rose and fell like soundwaves of iridescent and heartfelt magic...

“I will treasure that night until I am old and grey...”
“Held at @sgsportshub, @teddysphotos’ second concert in Singapore as part of his Divide tour was as thrilling, colourfully brilliant, aurally infusing and beautiful as his first gig on Saturday.
There was not a moment in Sheeran’s concert which was not magical.
Every bit of it was… And it came from the heart.
Said Sheeran to the crowd, “For this concert to work, I’m going to give you every part of me and you’re going to dance like maniacs and sing as loud as you can”, adding that it did not matter if one sung out of tune. The key was volume.
And volume, we did!
Like moths to the flame, we “danced and fluttered” to his songs, its incandescent beauty enthralling us, its iridescent feel, like the northern lights.
To put it simply, the concert was magnetic...
Dive has now become my favourite song from his new album Divide because of its gorgeous array of colours and tones like seem to fold and meld into each other so seamlessly and so perfectly.
And the way it was sung at his concert was so special...
Encouraging the audience to sing as loud as they can for this concert and noting that his loudest audience so far was Tennessee, USA, the undulating melody and voices from the crowd was beautiful moment, which accentuated the depth of the chorus of the song so much...
Sheeran’s live vocals is simply amazing. Like raw, pure honey... Or beautiful hot chocolate on a cold day. It really, really warms the heart...
From playing on the copious guitars that he had (blimey those riffs and glorious chords), to rapping, to looping, there was so much energy and passion going on.
A one man show - what a star!
“Playing and going on tour truly makes me happy”, he noted.
Indeed, Sheeran did give every part of him to the crowd. And I hope we did too..."

To the lovely techie who threw this to me at the end of tonight’s @teddysphotos’ gig @sgsportshub & to the very kind security who helped pick it up when it missed me & fell to the floor behind the barrier in front of me...thank you so much...😭😭😭😍😍😍 It’s definitely going inside the pocket of my ripped jeans *haha* I mean treasure tin box. I’ve never had a gig keepsake before...ever...so this really means the world to me... Plus it’s Ed Sheeran...and I really sacrificed a lot of quids for him - almost as much as my Doctor Who gigs... :-)
