Snowed in at Shirakawago! ❄️ This is taken from Ogimachi Castle Ruins lookout. We came to the lookout and waited an hour hoping for the snow to pass so we could see the village from above. Unfortunately it didn’t so all we saw was a blanket of white 🙈 but we did find one of the last autumn coloured trees standing nearby 🍁
We watched "Loving Vincent" and I could imagine him wandering through the grounds of the mental asylum where he stayed right before he ended his own life. ⠀

From Derek about this image:
CATEGORY: Blend, Tracked, Stacked
STORY: Already missing the Milky Way!! Here is an image I took during a 15 mile hike up into the Indian Henry Wilderness in the Southern parts of Mt Rainier National Park! I wasn't able to shoot any of the classic angles of Mt Rainier as my camera was broken/I was busy running workshops AND so many other great photographers I feel had already gotten the classic angles of Mt Rainier down- so I tried to be a little bit different and wander around the Southern parts of the park until I could find a cool composition that caught my eye. Often times people have the perception that my work is premeditated and visualized beforehand but honestly more than half my shots are me just winging it (a microcosm for a greater theme in my life 😂) and immersing myself in the moment until I see a scene that I feel good about. This shot was hard mostly because i'm a sweaty hiking boy and mosquitoes seem to like that...
EXIF- after snapping this foreground during late twilight (ISO 400, f/6.1, 10" @20mm) the mosquitoes seemed to be full and left me alone so I was able to set up my EQ mount and shoot a long exposure ISO 1600, f/4, 240", @20mm and 15 x ISO 6400, f/2.8, 15" that included a juicy meteor- I stacked and combined these 3 (1 image being a stack with the meteor) in Pixinsight and Photoshop.
