SUGAR ALTERNATIVES 🍩
Sugar is a heavily processed and refined food with minimal nutrients. There are a large number of sugar alternatives, some bad and some good. -
Artificial sweeteners like saccharin, aspartame and Splenda should be avoided at all costs! The sweeteners we recommend are:
-Blackstrap molasses- This is a syrup made from raw sugar cane, it is still high in nutrients compared to heavily refined sugar which is also made from the sugar cane. For this reason it provides iron, calcium, copper, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium and zinc.
-Raw Honey-This is a good alternative because it is also a food. It’s important to get honey in its raw, unpasteurised and unprocessed form. In its raw form, honey contains enzymes, antioxidants, iron, zinc, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, vitamin B6, riboflavin and niacin.
* -Coconut sugar- Coconut sugar is low GI and has a rich mineral content.
-Stevia- Stevia is made from a plant and is 300x sweeter than sugar, it has no calories and has no glycaemic impact meaning it’s great for diabetics.
-Maple syrup- This is another great choice, packed full of mineral and antioxidants. -
When it comes to sugar alternatives it’s important to remember that while they are a healthier option, they are still sugar and should all be used in moderation.
❣️❣️LONG POST ALERT❣️❣️ I am asked all the time: what do you eat? Well..... I eat so much. I eat all day. Usually 5-6 times a day and drink water- lots of water w BCAAs.... 4+ L of water.
Andddd... Coffee. I won’t stop drinking coffee. I am addicted to Starbucks.
I speak to people all the time about food— mostly women— I am always shocked to hear that they only eat once, twice or maybe three times a day?? This is shocking to me. There’s perhaps a conditioned belief that if you eat—
You will gain weight or eating more makes you hungrier? This is false.
You need to eat to lose weight. Yes it’s true.
If your trying to lose weight and are existing on a minimal amount of calories your body will hold on to everything you consume.
Your metabolism will slow, your digestion system will slow as there is nothing moving through it and you will be hangry.... (hungry and angry)
Typically this sends said dieter into carbohydrate fuelled eating frenzy; where you eat everything in sight when you just can’t take it anymore!! Then feel like shit.... Returning to the celery and boiled chicken...full of guilt and shame. Rinse and repeat.
It doesn’t have to be like this!!! You can eat whole, natural and delicious food while losing weight. I promise. Your body needs fuel.
Choosing the fuel is what matters. Whole and nutrient dense meals; at regular intervals throughout the day.
I am a lifestyle and fitness coach who can support you in finding your way to achieve amazing results through nutrition, exercise and mindset work. Discover and smash the beliefs that have been preventing you from moving forward and stuck in that vicious cycle.

a little savory breakfast inspo for you on this fine, fine WEDNESDAY 😎—zoodles w/ a fried egg and microgreens. i typically spiralize about 6-8 zucchini on sunday’s as part of my meal prep routine and keep them in a sealed glass bowl in the fridge so i have them throughout the week. they don’t get soggy if you keep that lid on. because let’s face it, when you get home from work, the LAST thing you want to do is break out the spiralizer. today i sautéed a handful of the zoodles in 1tb @fourthandheart grass-fed ghee oil, added the egg & seasoned everything with salt, pepper and gomasio seasoning 🙌🏼🙌🏼 hope you guys have a wonderful day!!! #kalejunkie#fuelhappy#partner
