Trees grow big and strong
they make the air clean for us
they're providers of shade when the sun is high
Creating memories we can’t deny
they become new in the fall
yet they stay the same in our heart🌸 #growtrees#nature#aesthetic#peace
#yourdailytree we hope! 🥑 When you live in California 🌴 it’s easy to take for granted how abundant and delicious the avocados are. We eat a lot of avocados — pasta sauce, avocado toast, veggie sammy, milkshake (once and never again) and of course avocado rolls 🍱 (haven’t seen them here ☹️). Now that we live far far away we miss our California grown green buttery fruit. If only Postmates could deliver chips and guac to us from Hugo’s! The last time I was in LA, avocados were dropping on the roof of my AirBnB all night and raccoons were playing soccer with them. ⚽️🥑 I wanted to take the whole tree with me back to Tokyo. The avocados here aren’t bad but they aren’t great and they are a bit expensive. I don’t even know where they are grown. Anyway, the reason we are attempting to grow avocado plants is because Ripley is going for a Cub Scout belt loop and I want more plants in the house. 🌱 Hopefully the leaves aren’t poisonous to cats🐈 because there is no doubt Vincent will take some nibbles. A few fun facts I found as we are attempting to grow them. Sometimes avocado plants will begin growing fruit after they’re 3 or 4 years old, others take 15+ years to grow fruit, and some never do. It helps to have several avocado trees growing together to aid with pollination. However, don’t expect the fruit to be anything like the avocado that yielded your seed. Commercial avocados are grown from grafted branches to control the outcome of the fruit – a naturally grown avocado may be very different than its parent!
