Why be a follower when you can be a leader? Why be negative, when you can be positive? Why be a talker when you can be the walker? What is your purpose, my friend? My purpose is to lead, respect others, give you motivation and inspiration through my actions and thoughts. I do hope that it's working by now, if not then I have to start pushing more.
If someone says they don't care about their health, then that's just bullshit. Why wouldn't you care about your health? That's the one and only aspect and element that keeps you alive and keeps you here in this world. The healthier you are, the more energy you have to do the things needed to be done.

Yesterday, @iquitsugar founder @_sarahwilson_ announced that she would be closing down the company that she started 7 years ago. As someone who has done (and LOVED) countless IQS programmes, I was shocked and sad to see that they will be coming to an end. But I am SO inspired by and supportive of Sarah’s courage to move onto her next passion. As she said, then end of @iquitsugar doesn’t mean that the knowledge, resources and community that she has created will end. Some of my best insta-friends came about through eight week programmes, and (by chance) today at work I received comments on how many useful tips and amazing recipes were in my I Quit Sugar for Life book that had been doing rounds through the office. I, for one, won’t be able to stop cooking all my favourite #IQS8WP meals (like this one☝🏻) and I look forward to continuing to share them all with you 💚 #iquitsugar#IQS#IQSWP#JERF

I’ve never been a fan of sweet breakfasts, which is why I skipped eating it for a long time. After I started changing my diet to decrease the symptoms of my chronic illnesses I started to rethink the way I viewed breakfast. Now my favorite food to eat in the morning are bacon and eggs, salads, or pho! Tonight I’m working on a giant pot of broth for pho throughout the week, it’s the original bone broth 🍲
Golden milk✨✨✨ new obsession — courtesy of my very sore throat. 💫 *recipe below* ✨I’ve been sick since last Thursday. It was very frustrating— considering up until last Thursday I thought I had found my miracle medicine. Pretty much since December 2016, I’ve been using Chinese herbs at the very first sign of feeling sick. And it’s worked in preventing me from being sick— up until last Thursday. No, i am not throwing shade at my beloved Chinese herbs. Cause they are the only medicine I take on a regular basis — *aside from the monthly ibuprofen when ya girls got cramps, oK!* anyway. Being sick is so frustrating & so much of a wake up call - I can’t even. I think even though I did not want this. I needed this. Sometimes we get so complacent - stuck- fine with where we are. And that isn’t always a good thing. I had settled into bad habits — which turned into a weakened immune system. So when this happened. I couldn’t fight it off like I normally could before. Oh well. I’ve cried - that’s over with. I’m moving forward. Cannot continue to live in the past. Cannot. That’s ALL I’ve been doing for so freaking long. Nothing will change in the future if I continue to live my life in the past. I can’t anymore. Once I feel better... it’s on LIFE! 🌈🌙🌟☀️ p.s. mustard gold / yellow is my FAVORITE COLOR. FOOD IS MEDICINE 👊🏼✨ This statement could not be more true, especially today. My body has been fighting this weird sickness the past couple days and I have been so frustrated! I was incredibly nauseous and felt tired after walking a couple blocks today. I didn’t feel like eating anything, but knew my body needed some fuel. After eating this bowl of goodness, my headache went away, I didn’t feel nauseous, and I actually had the energy to go for a lovely evening walk! It’s amazing what food can do for you, and how much your body NEEDS & craves real, clean, whole foods. I hope I never take my good health and access to amazing food like this for granted. It is truly a gift, and I am so grateful 💕🌿 Most of this bowl consists of food I got at my local farmers market this week. And guys... Swiss chard?? AMAZING. honestly my new obsession. Okay. Now for the goods: sautéed Swiss chard w/lemon & pepper // coconut oil quinoa // @sietefoods lime chips (DUH) // spinach // steamed broccoli // roasted kobacha squash // watermelon radishes // organic @hopefoods hummus // drizzled with lemon & lots of nutritional yeast. I don't often do long practices (except when I go to a 60-90 minute yin yoga class in a studio) but the simple act of stepping onto the mat, breathing deeply, and moving mindfully feels so good. Grounding, intentional and FUN! 😁
These days I probably do 20-30 minutes on the mat when I get on it and that makes me feel great. Although there was totally a time in my relationship with exercise when I would've thought that wasn't "enough" 😑🙄 #fakenews ·
And because I often get asked → I have been LOVING @yogaglo for so long now. It's like choosing from a menu so you can be totally intuitive about what you want your practice to be that day. (SO cool). I totally switch up my class choice depending on what type of practice I'm feeling like - but lately I've been loving classes by @amyippyoga and @kathrynbudig. They're always really nurturing, joyful and inspiring - which is ALWAYS the vibe I'm craving. So thank you lovely ladies for sharing your wisdom in your classes! 💗

Card of the Day: Three of Pentacles ✨
The Three of Pentacles illuminates our relationship to our skills and approach to work. Sometimes this card signifies the beginning of a new project that will help further our growth and advance our talents. It can also highlight or emphasize areas where cooperation is needed in our lives.
For me, the meaning of the Three of Pentacles extends far beyond the physical plane. The Three of Pentacles is a deeply spiritual card that invites us to consider our relationship to our worthiness and how we show up to do our work.
Meditating on the card has shown me all the ways in which my perfectionism can keep me from actively believing I have right to show up and claim a seat at the table. I believe this is called imposter syndrome, which is characterized by the inability to internalize success and fear of coming off as a fraud.
I am not a perfectionist in all all things. Don’t ask me to paint trim or or do fine needle work. But when it comes to my heart and vulnerability, sometimes perfectionism stands in the way of me feeling entirely worthy. I have lately traced this perfectionism back to becoming sober. Perfectionism replaced my dependency upon alcohol and has subtly been influencing my life for years. My mind very creatively created a number of ideal conditions that need to exist before a notion of true success can be claimed. This looks like discounting my work and picking every little thing apart to justify why it’s just not good enough.
So, the Three is Pentacles is the salve for perfectionism. The Three of Pentacles lovingly pulls out a chair at the table and asks us to sit down. It. shows us our gifts and says you belong here. You are worthy. You are unique. The world needs you as is, perfectly imperfect.
Your best is perfect.
Repeat after me: your best is perfect.
Say it to the trees, say it to the wind, say it to your children,say it to the crows, say it to your friends, say it to your family members, say it to your body, say it to your lover, say it to your colleagues, say it to yourself everyday in the mirror.

TRUE STORY: people always think that Kyle must eat these gorgeously crafted & beautiful dinners every single night (and what a lucky guy).
THE REALITY: the guy almost always gets leftovers (from a shoot, from whatever we cooked that Sunday or Monday), or a one-pot situation, or “creative” salad of some kind (aka, leftovers over lettuce fancied up with fun toppings). Or.. I make him stand in the freezing cold to BBQ something to add to one of the above. 😳
But you know what? It works. Yes, I’m a food blogger.... but I also run a full time business with a overly packed schedule most days. #reallife. And I’m not willing to compromise on good food because my energy HAS to be on point to do my work in the world. It’s a total non-negotiable for me. Even when it needs to be quick and not so glamorous. 💅🏻
But, yes... there are a few tricks that totally help. One of my favorites? MAKE AHEAD dishes. Most of which require no actual cooking. I have a whole section in the cookbook dedicated to just that because we basically live off of those 👊🏻 .
And 2) sauces and homemade dressings. As in “throw a bunch of stuff in the blender and turn it on” kind of recipes you can make in 2 minutes flat and put on everything and anything (veggies, chicken, potatoes, etc)
