I’m in tune
When I want the haters to tune out
They stay closed captioned just to know what I’m talking bout
And I’ll say...
I’m not gonna let you win today
I’m not gonna let the bad guy have his way
I’m gonna stay on my grind like I’m skating through this life
And I keep you on your toes, cut the tension with a knife
Stick a fork in the competition because to you I am done
Well done, game over, I got to have a little fun
Inkitt told me my book wasn’t eligible to be published because it is a mixture of different genres and has poetry in it. So I took matters into my own hands and self-published on Amazon. Buy my self-titled book “Jayden” at the link in my bio. Book description: My name is Jayden. I am 19. I was born with an unusually shaped left hand. My mother did not have enough amniotic fluid when I was in her stomach which led to three of my fingers not developing fully and being attached to one another when I was born. Around the age of 1, I had three surgeries to separate these three fingers to give me as much functionality as possible. As I have gotten older, I have realized that I have never been self-conscious about my left hand despite certain others around me expecting me to and it being so different from everyone else's. However, I have been very self-conscious about so many other things and have suffered from depression to the point of almost attempting suicide even though these negative thoughts and feelings stemmed from situations that are so much more common. Realizing this helped me see that our own inner peace and self-love is all that we ever need. The most human-like thing we do is forget we are all human. The key to a better world is treating the world better than the world has treated you. What truly exists is the connection we naturally have with one another because we exist. Division is not real. Hatred is not real. We are real. I am my home. I am my happiness. I am inner peace. I am self-love. I am Jayden. This brief collection of personal essays, short stories, and poems marks my greatest triumph in creating the peaceful purpose that now leads my existence. #readers#readersofig#readbooks#readingtime#kindle#kindlebooks#amazon#author#book#selfpublished

What was the BEST book you read in 2017? 📖
This past year I allowed myself to become a book worm again. I had lost that little part of my passion when I started my business and glorified busy... I mean, who had time to read when you’re working around the clock?
Over the last 365 days I’ve read so many books, it’s become a part of my routine to read every single night and it’s reminded me how good it feels to imagine and dream and be transported through words on a page!
So I wanna know, what was the best book you read this year? I’m always on the hunt for new page-turners! And let me know below if you’d like a little round up of my 2017 faves!
Maybe we should do a book club next year? 📚👇🏼🥂

YOU: you build the economies of the rich while YOU yourself are not wealthy, you labor fiercely in prestigious neighborhoods while YOUR own communities are in shambles. #MarcusGarvey has a message for YOU. #MelaninOrigins has a message for YOUR children. #You#LookForMe #2018
One year ago I️ had a vision to create a platform for all minority women who write or aspire to write! A platform where one could share their work in a space that was safe, encouraging and viewed by many!
As writers of color, often times our work is overlooked and overshadowed, our dreams at times deferred. I wanted to change that, I️ wanted to make a difference.
#BrownGirlsWhoWrite is a thought manifested, a collective work in progress. Together we will grow, inspire, encourage and educated one another and in turn do what we love, do what we live for... WRITE 💜
Happy Anniversary! 🥂 👩🏽💻
