I'm back from vacation, refreshed from a week in Belize and recharged and energized by the hundreds of thousands of people who marched this weekend. I'm so excited to work with all my committed couples this year, and enthused by their dedication to giving back.
#FromTheArchive // China, 2014 - a test portrait from my project on #kungfu. In the school I trained at, we were surrounded by these walls painted beautifully with scenes of nature. I decided not to photograph on this side and chose the plain grey side, which also meant I could avoid the sun - now I'm wonder why the hell I chose to avoid these brilliant backgrounds and the amazing sun that would often be low and soft because of the pollution. Plus, I'm gutted I was too scared take a film camera in the end, I dream of how incredible these portraits could have looked!
“Tell me what your worst fears are.
I bet they look a lot like mine.
Tell me what you think about when you can’t fall asleep at night.
Tell me that you’re struggling.
Tell me that you’re scared.
No, tell me that you’re terrified of life.
Tell me that it’s difficult to not think of death sometimes.”
The sun came pouring through our windows this morning and it’s was a beautiful 70 degrees compared to freezing temps and snow last week. Couldn’t help but think about Isaiah 66:9 — I will not cause pain without bringing something new to be born, says the Lord — Winter has always been a hard time for me but it has a place in reminding me of seasons the Lord brings us through and the absolute beauty of spring and newness. Thanking Him for the little things like this bed bug, picnics outside and being with family today. #email@example.com
