The true meaning of Mark Twain' s quote (in my view) is educating ourselves/ self- improvement is important to be relevant and successful, it's also equally important to ensure what we learn, source of learning and be objective. With the digital media explosion, the information is available everywhere and also we live in a critical time, where real news/ facts are called fake news and unreal/ fake news are promoted as real in our professional, social lives. The important aspect is separating the facts from fiction, real content from flakes, by using our intuition and judgement. This is important not only for us, but for the people we work around as well. According to 2016 PEW research, 26% of Americans didn't read a book in the last 12 months, so, nearly 1 in 4 Americans don't read. So its important we educate ourselves with the right subjects, contents in a right way to be relevant and successful.
My prayers goes out to all the people impacted by the #socalfires.
Look to your closet and think:
If i didn't wear it for more then a year...maybe your friend, cousin, sister, brother or just your neighbour next door would need it more...it just sits there not being used afterall. Maybe before you "sell" it take alook around maybe you would make somebody happy... By getting something - we fill our hands, by giving - we fill our hearts! .
PRAY FOR YOUR PARENTS!
Dear preteen/teenager, .
I was in the room during the booth camp of teens church in Global Impact Church and @bimboladavids mentioned something (I'm paraphrasing): "children pray for your parents. They go through stuff they might never be able to tell you about, they have emotions.... ". .
I've never seen it that way. My parents go through stuff? Ain't they super humans. Alas, they have blood running through their veins too. As an adult I go through some things and sometimes I feel like I might break 😨. They have fears: "can I provide the best, will be child turn out alright, am I raising them right, am I doing it right, what becomes of my needs, they cry, have fears etc. .
I took time one day to particularly pray to the Holy Spirit to heal the hearts of my parents. To help them know it wasn't their fault, and God loves them. To help them forgive themselves and the neighbour. To just let go totally and enjoy God's peace. A simple, heartfelt whisper, yet so powerful. .
ALWAYS, pray for your parents. It's a prayer beyond, "bless mummy and daddy". Pray about their total well being (spiritual, mental, physical, emotional and financial). God hears, and answers for sure.
Feel free to share with a preteen (10-13) or teenager under your care.
