Have you ever taken a diet plan from someone that worked wonders on them, but completely failed for you? It’s simply because your body’s daily caloric requirement and it’s daily caloric burn is different from each other! There was a good one year when I had started working out, but I wasn’t losing weight; neither was I coming anywhere close to having a toned and lean muscular physique that I desired. I wasn’t failing because of not doing enough in the gym, in fact in that one hour I was probably overworking myself, the real reason of not getting results was my diet! It is really important to count your calories and manage your macros. Here is a simple method to follow for each one of you to find out how much and what exactly you should be eating daily:
1. Go to
2. Enter your occupation/age etc.
3. If you want lose/gain weight, enter your ideal bodyweight.
4. Enter, how much you work out, you can leave it blank if you don’t. One can lose weight with or without working out, but come on if you work out you get to eat more since you’re already burning some calories. So please, don’t starve, eat enough, workout and be healthy.
5. After the calculator gives you the amount of calories you should be consuming daily, it also gives you your macros. Protein is always the highest, since a high protein percentage in your diet would not only help you gain muscle, but you’ll also burn fat faster!
Here I have my second meal of the day, 35 g of protein, 25 g of carbs, 15g of fat. I love greens, I hate meat so I'm guilty of having greens in a slightly bigger portion, but really this is the simplest and healthiest desi recipe you'll find.

🍊Spicy Tangerine Chicken Tikka. ¶ 🐓 Last night’s #chickentikka test pieces were fine—but tonight’s was awesome, benefiting from an overnight marinade in citrus and South Asian spices before its roasting. ¶ 🐔 Enough for leftovers! I seldom buy this much chicken—save for feeding a crowd—but it was on sale and looked decent enough. The week’s lunches and suppers are set. Leftover tikka, diced or pulled—hot, cold or tepid—is a sublime and versatile ingredient for countless kitchen improvisations—Indo-Mex 🌮 #chickentikkataco, 🥗 #chickentikkasalad, Indo-Sino 🍚 #chickentikkafriedrice, 🍜 #chickentikkanoodles, 🥪 #chickentikkasandwich, Indo-Vietnamese 🍲 #phoga. ¶ 🍗 Spicy Tangerine Chicken Tikka. This batch composed of—chicken drumstick and thighs (skinned, scored), tangerine juice, olive oil, ginger-garlic paste, salt, chilies (Indian, Aji Amarillo, Piri Piri), aniseed, cumin, turmeric, black cardamom, star anise, mango powder ( #amchoor), homemade #garammasala, black pepper, cinnamon, smoked paprika. ¶ Love having the oven cranked up on frigid evenings, warming our apartment with the intoxicating smell of roasting chicken and spices. ¶ A bit of a culinary oxymoron here, “tikka” generally refers to small pieces of highly spiced, marinated boneless meats, skewered and cooked in a tandoor or oven. This yoghurtless marinade on bone-in #chickenlegs is modeled after “tikkas” I’ve eaten, rather than #tandoorichicken. Also, lacking a proper #tandoor ( #tandir) in our apartment, I’d prefer calling these “tikka.” ¶ The ubiquitous curry house favorite is of Punjabi origins dating back to the Mughal era, though its invention and popularization is commonly credited to the post-partition #MotiMahalDelux Restaurant in Delhi. Chicken tikka based dishes that should be on everyone’s bucket list are Butter Chicken (murgh makhani #murghmakhani#butterchicken) and the Indo-Brit classic Chicken Tikka Masala ( #chickentikkamasala). A delicious variation is mustardy Bangladeshi Chicken Tikka curry. #miseenplace#homecooking#tandoorichicken#southasianfood#littlepakistan#schmalz#schmaltz
Making batches of ALOO TIKKIS (spicy potato cakes) as we speak before reading #zuhr#salaat (happy #jumma / Friday everyone)! 🙏🏼✨ The hubster is working from home today and shall be returning from praying Jumma at the local masjid a bit later, so before I go attend to my spiritual obligations too, I wanted to greet him with a few of these, nice and warm, ready and waiting (it's the small things)!✨ 💑You may have noticed that I haven't egg dipped these (the egg helps to seal the potato and hold it together) as I've only got 3 eggs right now which I'm saving for a cake I want to bake before pick up time today (not long) and haven't the time to nip to the shops. But you'll not notice the difference, as these have stayed together nicely and were firm to start off with (I kept the potato mixture in the fridge over night. However, a short chill will also suffice). 👍🏼 Honestly, you can't get a more moorish, lip smacking snack / light lunch, and these #alootikki - crisp and golden once cooked, served with some #greenchutney (an easy and quick way is to blend fresh coriander, fresh mint, green chilli, lemon juice and plenty of salt together. This vibrant paste can be used as it is, or mixed into yoghurt for a more mild condiment) have you coming back for more (one or two are never enough)!👌🏼👅💦 Happy to give an outline of the recipe if anyone wants it! 😍 Right then, back to the pan for the next lot.
SWIPE LEFT: #TbT to when I did a commercial for Maggi noodles 🤣. Sike, but I did create my own Maggi noodle masala and enjoyed some DIY Maggie noodles. Maggi noodles are to South Asians what Maruchan Ramen noodles are here. Bad for you, but quick, delicous and cheap meals! I remember enjoying Maggie noodles as a kid, but once I learned about it's lack of nutritional benefits I stopped eating it after college.
BUT I found an amazing recipe online and took a stab at it. This is my first recipe creation and I enjoyed playing around in the kitchen and adjusting the recipe for my taste. -
It's crazy how easy it is to make your own spice mix at home and enjoy all your favorite store bought treats. You usually have everything you need at home in your spice cabinet! -
To make the masala I used garlic powder, onion powder, red chili powder, turmeric and salt to make a few. -
Check out the rest of the recipe on my blog (link in bio)! - tag a bestie you enjoy(ed) Maggi with. Mine is @aamnaaziz (i don't think anyone loves Maggi more then her, FACT).
Methi Aloo Subzi it Curried Fenugreek is first in our list on our Fenugreek series on how to eat this flavourful plant which is eaten during the winter months in India.
This plant is an annual, easy to grow and to reap the most benefit is to follow the seasonal cycle and consume it during cold winter months.
Step 1: Wash and pluck the leaves, rinse the dirt.
Step 2: Peel and dice a potato and add some mustard oil and toss in some Fenugreek seeds if you have any or white sesame seeds. Cover and stir till almost cooked through.
Step 3: I added about 2 handfuls of Fenugreek leaves or use as much as you like. Stir and add salt, turmeric and your favourite red chilli powder or fresh green chillies. As you can see it shrinks and you don’t end up with much, similar to spinach. So pluck a ton of leaves if you are feeding your family :) Cook until the spices are blended and you have a fragrant, slightly bitter dish and it has the properties to help keep you warm in cold climates and the use of mustard oil brings out the flavour and aids digestion and another warming element for he body. Sesame, mustard oil and Fenugreek can be enjoyed all year around occasionally but best during colder temperatures. Enjoy and our next post will be on Fenugreek Paranthas (Chappatis)
This is my current spice cabinet (when it's all nice and organized) 😬I really do like it, but I have seen a few of my poor spice jars slide off and break thanks to this slippery plastic ladder organizer 🙈 I'm switching it out with something new & improved and organizing a few of my other kitchen cupboards while I'm at it. Check out the "KSP Haul" in my Story highlights to see everything I got from Kitchen Stuff Plus @kspstuff this past weekend. I'm so excited to be collaborating with them for this project ❤️ Watch this space for updates and be sure to use my discount code "inspiredaccountant-10" at checkout to enjoy 10% off your purchase in-store or on-line 🙂 #spicecentral#kitchenorganization
