Today was all kinds of magical. She's been looking forward to carnival for months, and I couldn't have imagined my shy girl would enjoy it even a fraction of what she did. Made my heart so so happy, even if we were absolutely frozen by the time we got our "shoshesh" (sausage) and went home 😅

Hey Gotte Lina, we love you! Thank you for loving my babies and for letting J style your hair with a toy hairdryer from the nineties. She went to bed so happy ✨
Hard at work on her little mouse/Gruffalo house (next to her head). The beginnings of imaginary play are already the best 🙌🏼

Yesterday was a big day! Little Z’s first time on skis @sattelhochstuckli ! Surprisingly there were no tears which always makes the day easier - saying that doesn’t mean there was no whinging though - there was some of that - but all in all a good start. Now it’s time for me to hop back on the skis and learn again too 🙈

You know you're a Swiss kid in winter when you walk past a fountain that's frozen solid and your mother still keeps you out for a solid five hours. When it was time to finally go in, both girls had the rosiest cheeks and noses I've ever seen and J still cried because she wanted to stay outside 😂

Snow! We finally stepped out of the house and headed skiing today - no more sickness here! Z was on skis for the first time and loved it! The fresh snow on the trees at @sattel_hochstuckli just took my breath away and so I took plenty photos of them!

It was this flight that had me determined to understand turbulence better. Flying out of windy Lisbon it was a bumpy take off and the first 30 mins of the flight I spent gripping the arm rest. On the outside i was all smiles, I never want to pass on my fear to my kids, but on the inside my tummy was doing backflips. 30 mins into the flight I decided enough is enough, I got out my notebook and started writing down questions to all the answers that I felt would help calm my nerves. Back in 🇨🇭 I emailed @sky_trotter who I had met during a tour of Zurich Airport and asked him if he could help. He kindly agreed to answer my questions (and some of yours too) and you can now read them on the blog (temp link in bio).
Can't wait for weekends to look like this again and not like hospital waiting rooms and antibiotics and husbands unconscious on the floor. Come onnnn summer! 🙏🏼

Ski week is fast approaching here and the each week over the last 2 months on the blog I’ve been sharing tried and tested family friendly skiing destinations throughout Switzerland. So I thought I would come and share them here. Let’s start with the most recent ... @brunni.engelberg and the Klostermatte ski area. Mum of 2 Jenni thinks Klostermatte at Brunni is the perfect place to learn to ski and I totally agree! A great learning slope with a great ski school! Have you ever been?

The village Gruyeres is a lovely day trip from Lausanne or Geneva. Here you can enjoy a medieval walled city, a castle, and of, course, the famous cheese! Melissa and her family soaked it all up including these beautiful gardens. She can help if you are considering this for a family trip this year! #genevawithkids#switzerlandwithkids#familytravel
My birthday wish? Was a massage at @swissholidaypark! We had lunch (kids pizza, the adults salad from their awesome salad buffet) and then I headed downstairs for a massage and the kids played here before heading down for some bowling. Swiss Holiday Park is our family’s favorite place to go in winter with lots to do in grey days!
A new exhibition in Bern is showing off work by artists with Down syndrome. 🎨

I love that when I sent this to Guille he didn't reply with something normal like "that leaf is as big as her head!", but instead just replied "do we seriously not have any socks that fit her?!" #apparentlynot

Just swingin'. This kid is behaving like a little monster lately, and my patience is shot, so I'm extra happy about the weekend finally getting here! Any ideas for how to get a 2.5 year old to stay with you while you're out and not run away screaming? Short of putting her on a leash, I'm out 🤷
Despite my wishes for us to become digital nomads, it’s just not on the cards, so we need to make the best of school holidays when it comes to travel - that’s when planning becomes important. To make that planning process easier I designed a Family travel planner pdf which will go out first for free to my newsletter subscribers tomorrow morning! What’s your best tip for planning travel?
Hands up who has started to plan their 2018 travel? This time of year we don’t travel much, but it gives us some time to start thinking and planning about where we will go! This week I’m sharing the steps we take to make travel possible and the first step is to decide on a budget - not my favorite topic but something important.
Anyone else working in sorting their photos from 2017? I’ve got a couple of months to go through (yes I delete!!!) and then it’s time to make our annual family photo book! I’ve been working hard with a friend to help you get your photos organized and into a yearly book - watch out for more news later in the month!

It’s the wand the chooses the wizard! Part of the deal we had with the kids was that not only do they have to pay their own entry into Harry Potter Studios but also their own souvenirs. This was the best decision we made as if they didn’t have the money, they couldn’t buy it. They spent time before checking out the online shop and knew exactly what they wanted and how much it cost .... a wand. Not something I would of bought them (so expensive!) but now all the more special because they saved and paid for it themselves.

Spending the days editing the last of my 2017 photos before I make our yearly album. This was taken on Christmas Eve, a day of sledding and winter walks in the sunshine! a huge contrast to the weather outside today ... a huge wind storm passed through earlier today and has left lots of tress down all through Switzerland.
Starting the year how we tend to go on, traveling together! On a side note how should I hashtag these photos? #sftdeparture?

Happy New Year! We started off with a sleep in after a late night drinking champagne and laughing at Michael McIntyre reruns. It continued by testing the UK health system and the boy needing some magic glue for a cut on his head before yummy Greek food in Windsor. Now it’s time to pack and head back to 🇨🇭! What a day!

A big last day of the year for our kids! Being big fans, they have been wanting to visit Harry Potter Studios just outside London for a long time and today was the day! They had to pay not only the entry into the Studios and any souvenirs themselves but also their own flight to London. Trying to teach them the value of money and what it actually costs to travel.

Best of Switzerland - It was not an easy choice, but the boys had to say that our day In Grindelwald, a mountain playground, was their absolute Swiss favorite. These Trotti bikes were a super fun way to get down the mountain after riding the gondola up.

It’s the little details that I just love about England. Found this one in between shops on the Guildford high street where we even stumbled into old friends.

Almost left @zurichairport without our traditional looking up at the departures board photo.

We didn’t get the white Christmas we had been wishing for down at our place, but the bonus of living in Switzerland is snow isn’t far away! We drove up 10 minutes above the fog and were able to enjoy a stunning Christmas sled!
We had a fantastic day exploring the Swiss medieval town of Murten with friends! In the Fribourg region, the town is located on the language border between French & German speaking Switzerland. We fell in love with the picturesque alleyways of the old town & enjoyed spending time on the shores of the beautiful Murtensee. Can't believe it took us this long to discover this lovely town ... we shall return. See my instastories for more pics from our explorations. #theflorissantlife#explore#murten#switzerland#inlovewithswitzerland#adventureswithjack#switzerlandwithkids
Day 1 in Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland: "It feels like I'm walking on the moon!" - my 4 year old. Ah I love that traveling with kids means epic playgrounds and a chance to rest and take it all in! #grindelwald#jungfrau
