Anytime I have ever started a new “diet” (especially ones where a lot of foods are off-limits - even the ones I rarely eat), guess what I automatically crave all the time? Yep, any “off-limit” foods I can get my hands on!
Then, there are the “diets” that consist of strict eating plans with pre-packaged foods that cost in the ballpark of $400/month of food just for ME (insert:😱) that my kids can’t eat (because it’s 90% of what I HAVE to eat) AND it honestly tastes disgusting. That’s just not sustainable for me and my family!
What is sustainable is having healthy, whole food products that I can integrate into my entire family. Nutritious, functional foods that nourish my body, leaving me with virtually no cravings and still lose weight.
The best part is, even if I do get a craving or want a treat? No worries. I can have healthy chocolate (with health benefits) that leaves my sweet tooth satisfied AND I can even share with my friends and family AND still stay on track with my nutrition goals👊🏼 I have found once I maintain the right mindset (being healthy and losing weight has as much to do with our headspace as it does our food/exercise), have the right tools (nutritious foods, accountability, support system) - losing weight becomes possible and more about developing healthy habits as a family, instead of feeling unhappy and deprived all the time.
I still have a lot of skills I need to develop and master in my life but, day by day, I’m learning to LISTEN to my body and figure out what works best for me in nourishing my body rather than depriving it.
