The @unitednations declares today #WorldDayOfSocialJustice, saying that "we advance social justice when we remove barriers that people face because of gender, age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture or disability.” Much work still needs to be done to remove these barriers and we’ll keep pushing you to help KNOCK THEM OVER!
Born in the South during segregation on September 25, 1952, Gloria Watson, who later changed her name to bell hooks, grew to become an academic and writer of countless works, including writing that would help to mold the Black Feminist Movement. hooks often focused her writings on the perceptions of black women and spoke out against patriarchal standards within the Black Liberation Movement that were often used to control the sexuality of the women within the movement. Although initially met with resistance at pointing out the sexism within the Black Liberation Movement as well as the racism found in the feminist movement, hooks’ writing in Feminist Theory From Margin To Center pushed the idea that feminist theory needed to be more accessible to women of color. She is well known for standing for not only harmony between races and economic classes within Feminism, but also for harmony between genders as she believes that it is essential that men help to expose and transform sexism in society. hooks has also used her writing to change the perception of black female intellectualism and is now a professor at Berea College.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

8 Reasons to #Repealthe8th 🇮🇪
1️⃣ Ireland’s abortion law violates the human rights of women and girls every day. Women are being denied the human rights of healthcare, bodily autonomy and independent decision making through a law which equates the life of a woman to the life of an embryo.
2️⃣ Ireland (along with Malta) has the most restrictive abortion laws in the EU.
3️⃣ Women have died in Ireland having been denied access to abortion procedures (Savita Halappanavar for example). 4️⃣ An average of 12 women a day travel abroad to procure abortions.
5️⃣ Women are reverting to extremely dangerous methods to end their pregnancies. In June 2016 over 78 abortion pills were seized by Irish customs in just one week. The Eight Amendment is not restricting access to abortion it’s restricting access to SAFE medical procedures.
6️⃣ Rape victims have no access to safe abortion in Ireland. 7️⃣ Women are forced to carry to term pregnancies that have no chance of survival (fatal foetal abnormalities). 8️⃣ Ireland’s abortion law criminalises women who can face 14 years in prison for taking abortion pills and also criminalises medical professionals. I trust Irish women to make decisions regarding their own bodies, do you?
Texas, it's time! We can finally kick Ted Cruz out of the Senate, and put Beto O'Rourke in! If you need help finding your polling place, let me know, and I'll send you some places to find it. We can do this, but not if we don't vote! @betoorourke
Sometimes it's easy to miss what's happening back home when you're living in China. I had no idea that the #womensmarch would happen today BUT just yesterday morning I was talking with @jalilbutron about women's health, contraceptive methods, and the female body in general. Even in 2018 I feel there is a lack of knowledge about how the female body works & bc of that we are often misunderstood. I'm glad women can come together to shine a spotlight on some of the issues that still affect us today. #womensrightsarehumanrights 🙌🏻

My most recent order, completed before our trip last week. I usually will do special requests, but this one was extra special. I was eager to do it.
