Government shutdown over. Looks like I can head back into NASA Ames tomorrow and wave to the Space Shuttle Test article on the drive in. What do you see on your way to work?

This is such important advice. I think especially for those of us who really hate “not doing anything” and the feeling of being unproductive, it’s important to recognize that there is such a thing as being inefficient with your time by not understanding the important of patience. I’ve seen examples of people consumed with productivity without the balance of patience in others and myself time and time again and so many times I have seen those people and myself have to backtrack or in the end, end up doing more work. There is IMMEASURABLE VALUE in balancing patience and productivity, and with wisdom you can find it. #lifeadvice#refinery29#greatquote#wisdom#worklife#productivity#patience#efficiency#hustle#truelife#liveinthenow#value#important
There’s been a lot of this going on this week! I’m currently devising mouthwatering schemes for the show house at the @ideal_home_show and have a big meeting today where I present my ideas. Exciting! Needless to say I’m going big on colour! I’ve also got lots of colour courses I’m hosting over the next few weeks, highlight for me is my Colour Workshop that I host in London. A day spent utterly immersed in colour and fiddling around creating mood boards and looking at drool worthy pictures! Heaven. I’ve already started thinking how I’ll style the event so it’s as inspiring day as it can be. Simply styling a space, the way we arrange our objects, can have such a big impact. I talk more about that over on the blog today. The link is in my profile and if you want to come hang out with me for the day and get creative then I have a few spaces left on the 6th February. Come join me, I’d love to hang out. And maybe you can help me pick a colour for my hallway! 🤯
I set up my company 10 years ago at 23 from my dining room table in South Kensington, I had no formal qualifications in this field and only one project under my belt working for a developer. There are so many things I learnt: from experience, learning from talented people I worked with and mistakes I made along the way. There is no doubt in my mind I was always meant to be a designer, I truly love my job and feel excited by every project we take on, there is nothing more satisfying than creating your clients dream home. I often wished along the way that I had a mentor or someone in the industry I could ask for answers on how to deal with certain tricky situations... I know that many of you feel the same- judging by the huge amount of DMs I receive every day asking for career/ design advice... I don’t have time to answer each DM individually so I thought I would open up this discussion where you can comment below with your questions and I will try to answer as many as possible. Bear with me as I’m still on holiday in California... it’s night time here -there is an 8 hour time difference (plus I have a toddler and no nanny here and also business emails and enquiries to tend to with my team back in the UK) but I will do my best to offer honest advice. At this point I probably need to apologise in advance to my husband who is unlikely to get any attention in the next 24 hours 😉 if you can read through all the comments to see if I have already answered the same question you had I’d be grateful so I only have to answer each question once! 😉

Realizing that #MomLife only makes me better at #WorkLife. I’m more efficient, focused and put up with ZERO BS. Also, motherhood helped me give up trying to be “perfect.” It’s exhausting, unattainable and AUTHENTIC realness is 100x better anyway! #TuesdayTruth
